Day 1 of Women’s History Month: a perfect day to feature three women who have made history in my life. Who have altered the trajectory of my life history forever…(thank you, angels who’ve ridden shotgun with me for 68 years, for introducing me to them.)
Woman #1: Elena Terrone, Woman of Distinction Honoree
In a couple of Sundays, on March 19th, 2023, Elena Terrone will be honored as a Woman of Distinction by our Assemblywoman, Michaelle C. Solages. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 3:00pm at the Sewanhaka High School in the afternoon. Details about RSVP-ing on the flyer below. But here’s what I have to say about Elena Terrone as a Woman of Distinction.
Everyone is welcoming. But you will have to RSVP at 516-699-2972 or email them at district22@nyassembly.gov if you’re coming. So if you’re local, and you know how great Elena is, come help celebrate with us this long-deserved honor she’s receiving.
Woman #2: Natalie Goldberg, Writer, Painter, Zen Teacher
I have known about Natalie Goldberg for decades, I’ve read and worked with her books, and I’ve attended workshops with her. She is a great teacher, in so many ways—but most of all, in being present. In noticing your own life. This deck is new, and I highly recommend it. I’ve spoken about it before, but it’s working its way into my bones now—and even if you don’t think of yourself as a writer, get yourself one of these decks and just start with card # 1 and keep going.
That’s what I’m doing. Read my answer to “Tell me about yesterday” here.
Do you have writing you want to share? Or a great book to recommend? Share your thoughts with us on my new Let's Share page. What are you reading? What are you learning? Let me know.
Woman #3: Andrea Gibson, and The Year of No Grudges
Click here to watch this astounding video that could make all the difference for you. Andrea Gibson is a poet who speaks Buddha without the need for captions. I have no idea what her spirituality is. But it resonates with me in a deep, deep way. Maybe it will with you, too. Watch the video.
Thank you for reading. Please feel free to interact, let me know what you think, how you’re doing. Let’s make the invisible community visible. With love, and blessings,
Tina
